Why won't my camera turn on?
Please check all of these items which you may not have included:
- Is battery present?
- Is battery fully charged?
- Is battery inserted correctly? (Are the arrows aligned?)
- Is battery correct type or manufacturer?
- Are cradle and AC adapter or charger unit working correctly? (If you are using a model with a cradle)
- Is USB port on computer working correctly? Try another USB port or another computer.
- Did you insert your memory card?
Please remove the card and test camera again. If this step restores operation of your camera, you probably have a defective memory card. Please test or replace card, per the card manufacturer’s recommendation.
My camera works okay in PLAY mode, but in RECORD mode the screen goes black after a few seconds. What's wrong?
This symptom may occur in cameras with an optical viewfinder. These cameras have a Power Save feature that turns OFF the display in RECORD mode after about 2 seconds. Simply press the DISP button to cycle this mode OFF or ON.
When I put my camera on the cradle, why does the charge light:
- Not come on? Answer: Battery missing or AC adapter not plugged in.
- Blink red? Answer: Battery defective.
- Never turn green? Answer: Battery defective.
- Why is there a visible white or colored vertical band in some pictures?
-
Why can’t I change settings on my camera or use some buttons?
Check to see if you have selected a Best Shot mode. Some functions are disabled for certain Best Shot choices. Please return camera to Automatic recording and recheck these functions.

How do I print the date and time on my pictures?
All current EXILIM series cameras have the ability to print the date and time on the photo. The standard used to do so is DPOF. This stands for Digital Print Order Format. When printing to any printer supporting this DPOF standard, the date and time can be printed.
Check with printer manufacturer for this information.
Note: Photohand’s software can print the date, not the time. -
The overall image is out of focus
If Pan focus is being used, the image may be out of focus; use Auto Focus Mode.
Pan focus uses a focus range of several feet, so the image might be blurry but will be captured faster. This could occur in the EX-Z30, EX-Z40, EX-Z50, EX-Z55 and EX-Z57. If digital zoom was chosen and the image became unclear, only use optical zoom, and move closer.

Polka dots or circles appear in the image
This may occur when taking photographs with dust or rain. The flash may be reflecting off of these subjects and causing dots or circles to appear in the image. Turning the flash off will prevent this from occurring.

How do I email pictures?
Open your emailing program (Outlook or Outlook Express).
Compose the text of your email, and then go to Attach or Insert.
Go to the directory; C:ProgramfilesCasioPloader or PhotoloaderImageLib or Image Library
Look in the dated folders in this directory for the date that contains the certain pictures you want to email. You will see HTML, Preview folder, Index and a series of JPG files. The Preview and JPG files are the only ones to be attached. The Preview images are the same as the JPG files but are small and very low resolution. The small file size lends itself very well to emailing but will not yield high-quality prints. The other JPG files not in the Preview folder are the high-resolution images. The high-resolution images produce high-quality prints, but the large file size is sometimes difficult to email.
Now you can select Attach or Insert in your email program.
Strong point light sources (i.e., sun or strong indoor lighting) may cause an internal reflection in the camera glass lens, resulting in an apparent band. Please recompose your picture to eliminate this effect.
